Japanese furniture with sliding lacquered panel
Circa 1890
This important furniture was made by l’Escalier de Cristal. It appears on Henry Pannier’s notebook where we learn that it was made by the furniture maker Charbonnier.
Shelf with crystal vase

This exceptional japanese furniture is a realization by l’Escalier de Cristal in collaboration with the Japanese specialized furniture maker, Gabriel Viardot (1830-1906). These informations are known thanks to Henry Pannier’s notebooks in which features a draw depicting it with a description. We also learn that only three were made, nevertheless, today, only two have been found, ours and a similar model conserved in the Corning Museum of Glass in the United States.

This small table stamped “Lanneau” was made of blackened wood in the late 19th century. It’s not bearing the Escalier de Cristal’s signature but we can surely recognize it on one of the draws on Henry Pannier’s notebooks. Moreover, the description confirms that it was an Edouard Lièvre model.
Chinese stand adorned with bronze

This small Chinese inspired stand was made of walnut wood and garnished with gilt bronzes medallions. A label was stuck under the marble shelf proving it was a realization by l’Escalier de Cristal.
Louis XIV style unit with Boulle inlay

This élégant Louis XIV style unit is signed by l’Escalier de Cristal and features in Henry Pannie’s notebooks. our furniture is adorned with the famous Boulle inlay.
Louis XV style fireplace screen

This original Louis XV style screen with three panels was made by Louis Majorelle for l’Escalier de Cristal around 1890. These informations are kown dispite the absence of signature or label because it is illustrated in Henry Pannier’s notebooks.
Martin varnish table

This tea table with two shelves bears under one of them a label where we can read « Maison de l’Escalier de Cristal Paris Pannier Lahoche & Cie». The originality of this table lays on its decoration made of Martin varnish, technical used by Louis Majorelle..
Series of fourLouis XV style lightwalls with parrots

This series of four gilt bronze light walls with a porcelain parrotwas made by l’Escalier de Cristal circa 1890. Not signed, they feature on Henry Pannier’s notebooks, under the designation « Applique Louis XV. Trois lumières. Perroquet chine sur un culot Louis XV. Niche feuillagée bronze doré » (Louis XV lightwall. Three lights. China parrot on Louis XV base. gilt bronze leaffy alcove).

This cuirass Tam-Tam clock was unquestionably produced by l’Escalier de Cristal around 1890 as it features in Henry Pannier’s notebooks. We can read the mention of the clock accompanied with a draw and under the mention of the version with the crystal dial as we owe.
Vase forming clock with dragon mount

This very creative bronze clock depicts an impressive decoration inspired by the Japanese iconography. It is drawn and mentioned in Henry Pannier’s notebooks. We can see that only two have been made, one of crystal, the other of bronze.
